Seniors Month is held in August each year in the Northern Territory and provides a great opportunity to celebrate the positive aspects of ageing and the contribution that Territory Seniors make to their community.
The objectives of Seniors Month are to:
COTA NT provides a varied program of activities and events for each SENIORS MONTH. Details of our program are published in July.
Territory Families administers Seniors Month grants, which open and close in March. On behalf of Territory Families, COTA NT produces a printed Seniors Month calendar available from libraries, electorate offices, seniors’ community centres, retirement villages and other community locations. This calendar is available in mid-July. COTA NT also publishes an online community calendar which features events run specifically for Seniors Month in August. (This calendar is also available all year round and is free for community event listings).
Organisations and groups can apply for grants of up to $2,000 to help with running events and activities during Seniors Month in August. Grants are designed to help offset the cost of an event rather than cover the full cost. Funding is limited and not all applications may be successful. Even if you have previously been given a grant, you may not necessarily be given another.
