COTA NT celebrates 10 years of Expo
19 Jun 2025
COTA NT is celebrating the 10th anniversary year of its Darwin Seniors Expo event on Saturday 28 June. This is the premier event curated specifically to focus on the wellbeing and interests of senior Territorians. The growth in exhibitor and attendance numbers from year to year is testament to the success of its winning formula – community, connection, conversation and celebration.
This year’s Expo connects thousands of community members with each other and with service providers, businesses, groups and government departments most relevant to their needs and interests. The Expo is free to enter and includes a free morning tea, live radio broadcast, live music, performances, workshops and over 95 exhibitors including 24 new to Expo and the “Super 8” (exhibitors reaching their 10th Expo anniversary).
“If the last 10 years of Expo have proven anything, it’s that people – especially seniors – want to meet people in-person and that need is not going out of fashion anytime soon.” says Sue Shearer CEO of COTA NT. “Expo is the best opportunity we can create as an organisation for the NT community to have vital conversations at one time and in one space on topics such as aged care, health and well-being, finance, concessions, human rights, transport, voting and more.
“Expo delivers exactly what the Northern Territory Government’s Major Community Benefit Fund is designed for – major benefit to the community. We are extremely thankful for this support and for the commitment to seniors from event sponsors, Netball NT, Territory FM 104.1 and Air North and exhibitors. Air North is offering Expo attendees the opportunity to win a major prize, a trip for2 to Dili including return flights and 2 nights accommodation at the 5-star Palm Springs Dili Hotel.
“We are delighted to be joined by our patron, His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM for his third Expo and extend a warm welcome to the Hon Lia Finocchiaro Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Government to her first,” added Shearer. “We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary with sparkle and cake on the day. It will be big, but not quite big enough for the thousands expected on the day though.“
The program for the Darwin Seniors Expo 2025 is published on the COTA NT website now and assists with planning for must-visit exhibitors, must-do activities, transport, parking, personal comfort on the day and more. Doors open at 10am. After the Opening Ceremony, access to Exhibitors will be available.
