Alice Springs Seniors Expo brings information, activities and community together

6 Aug 2026

Older people, their families and carers in the Alice Springs region are invited to connect, learn, stay active and celebrate community at the Alice Springs Seniors Expo 2026, to be held on Wednesday 12 August from 10am to 2pm at the Alice Springs Convention Centre.

With free entry and free morning tea, the Expo will bring together 44 stalls and interactive displays representing a broad range of sectors. Visitors can access current information, ask questions directly, discover local services and learn more about the support, activities and opportunities available locally.

Exhibitors will represent areas including aged care, health and allied health, dementia support, mental health, legal and financial assistance, consumer rights, carers’ support, disability services, exercise and wellbeing, community safety, emergency services, volunteering, advocacy, government services, social connection and community activities.

COTA NT Chief Executive Officer Sue Shearer said the Expo provides an important opportunity for older Territorians to access reliable, up-to-date information in one welcoming and accessible location.

“Finding the right information can sometimes be difficult, particularly when people are trying to understand services, make decisions or plan for the future,” Ms Shearer said. “Our Alice Springs Seniors Expo makes it easier for people to speak directly with service providers and community organisations, ask questions and find out what support and opportunities are available.”

The Expo will also celebrate the strong community spirit of Alice Springs, bringing people together to connect, share experiences and enjoy a day of activities and entertainment.

The official opening will take place at 10am in the Ghan Foyer, with doors to the exhibitor area opening immediately afterwards.

The day will begin with the Active in Alice Walking Group, meeting outside the Convention Centre at 8.15am for a casual 30-minute walk commencing at 8.30am. Participants are encouraged to wear red and bring a water bottle.

Inside the Expo, visitors can take part in a free Qigong class with Hellen Checker at 10.30am and Tai Chi with Eunice at 11.30am. Music from the U3A Beaut Ukes will be performed from 11am to 11.30am in the MacDonnell Room, while the Plaza Wellbeing Centre will provide free massages from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Visitors can also enjoy interactive activities, health and fitness challenges, quizzes, raffles and prize draws. Useful information and take-home resources will be available, along with giveaways and prizes throughout the day.

A community barbecue will be available for a gold coin donation, with drinks available for purchase.

COTA NT thanks the Northern Territory Government for its sponsorship of the Alice Springs Seniors Expo and for its continued support of opportunities that promote connection, participation and wellbeing for older Territorians.

COTA NT also extends its sincere thanks to the 42 exhibitors for contributing their time, knowledge, resources, activities, giveaways and prizes.

“The Expo would not be possible without the support of the many government agencies, service providers, health organisations, community groups, businesses and local representatives involved,” Ms Shearer said. “Their participation demonstrates the strong commitment across Central Australia to supporting older people to remain informed, connected, active and engaged.”

COTA NT also thanks Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters for generously donating one night’s accommodation (including breakfast and late checkout, valued at approximately $250) as a prize for completing the event survey.

Special thanks are also extended to Josh Burgoyne MLA, Member for Braitling, and Robyn Lambley MLA, Member for Araluen, for donating lucky door prizes.
