Darwin & Palmerston Seniors Expos

COTA NT’s first Seniors Expo was held in Darwin in August 2015 at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) at Conacher Point. Created as part of Seniors Month, the event showcased community services, lifestyle opportunities and entertainment for older Territorians.

Delivered on a shoestring budget by four part-time staff and volunteers, the inaugural Expo featured 41 exhibitors, nine talks, eight performances, a fashion show and free morning tea — attracting more than 400 attendees. It was the largest event in COTA NT’s history at the time and went on to win Community Event of the Year at the NT Australia Day Awards.

Two further Expos at MAGNT cemented its reputation as the premier seniors event on the NT calendar. As it continued to grow, the Expo moved to the Palmerston Recreation Centre for two years. After a pause in 2020 due to COVID-19, the event returned in 2021 at its largest venue yet — the CDU Stitzler Stadium Netball Centre — reflecting its ongoing popularity and expansion across Darwin and Palmerston.
