Seniors Expo 2015

COTA NT’s Seniors Expo 2015

“The Inaugural Year”

Date/Time: Wednesday 19 August, 9.00am – 12.30pm (FREE ENTRY)
Venue:
Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Conacher Street, Darwin

In 2015, the COTA NT staff consisted of four people (Stephanie Kendall, Graeme Bevis, Dean Dempsey and Lina Paselli) who together created the largest COTA NT and community event on the calendar for NT seniors, COTA NT’s Seniors Expo. The response from the community was fantastic with 48 exhibitors supporting the event with stalls, performance and talks. Patrons enjoyed a varied program which included a free Minister’s Morning tea, rides on Harley-Davidson motorbikes, ballroom dancing, a vibrant fashion parade and talks in the theatre.

Seniors Expo 2015 was supported by the Minister for Senior Territorians the Hon Peter Styles MLA, the Lord Mayor of Darwin Katrina Fong Lim, City of Darwin event staff and Darwin High school in particular. The Lord Mayor of Darwin, Katrina Fong Lim described the fledging Seniors Expo as a “very special community event”. COTA NT was incredibly proud that its first Seniors EXPO won the Australia Day Award for Community Event of the Year award.
