When do I qualify for a Seniors Card?

Any permanent Northern Territory (NT) resident who is 60 years of age or older is eligible for a NT Seniors Card. The Seniors Card is free and provides access to savings on a range of goods and services at participating businesses.


When is the NT Seniors Card office open?

The NT Seniors Card office is open to the public 9am – 3pm, Mondays to Fridays (except public holidays and during the Christmas close period) or by prior appointment. The NT Seniors Card office occupies space within COTA NT’s building Spillett House at 65 Smith Street, Darwin NT 0800.

I am waiting for my Seniors Card to arrive. When do I get it?

  1. Please allow 3-5 working days for your card to arrive.
  2. If it has not arrived within this time, please call the NT Seniors Card office on free call 1800 441 489
  3. Or submit an enquiry via the website, ntseniorscard.org.au.

Is my Seniors Card activated?

The Seniors Card does not need activation. It is ready to use the moment it is issued.

The only thing that you need to do, if you own a car and want the $55 discount applied to your next MVR, is go to an Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) office and register the car, linking it to your vehicle. For further information on the Seniors Card program, directories or application forms call the NT Seniors Card office on free call 1800 441 489 or visit the website ntseniorscard.org.au.

How can I register my Seniors Card to receive the MVR discount?

To receive the discount of $55 off your car registration you need to provide your seniors card number to MVR prior to paying your registration, this should only need to be done once when you first get your card.

MVR prefer that members register their seniors card number in person at a local MVR office https://nt.gov.au/driving/driverlicence/motor-vehicle-registry-mvr/find-a-motor-vehicle-registry-mvr-office however, you can call on 1300 654 628 to speak to them if you have difficulty attending one of the offices.

If you try to renew your motor vehicle registration online or over the phone before providing your seniors card number to MVR the discount will not be applied and you be required to pay full price for your registration.  Further information is available on the MVR website https://nt.gov.au/driving/driverlicence/motor-vehicle-registry-mvr/concession-cards-you-can-use-at-mvr.


When does the Seniors Card expire?

The Seniors Card does not expire. If the numbers wear off, you can ask for a replacement card.
