PICAC NT maintains a resource library of culturally appropriate care information for multicultural seniors in the NT, and those who are caring for them.

PICAC NT’s Program Manager can also provide resources, information and training on the following topics: culturally appropriate aged care, aged care, including multilingual copies of selected Department of Health documents, health care issues for older Territorians and other cultures.

Key resources for service providers

  • Making a Contract with Clients from CaLD Backgrounds for Home Care – PICAC NT has developed two checklists, one for service providers and one for clients. Both checklists are free to download. The checklists can be translated free of charge, as Contracts, flyers and any administrative document used by service providers. Contact the PICAC Manager for help with translations.
  • CULTURAL BACKGROUND RESOURCES 2023-2024 (January 2024) is produced by PICAC NT and is free to download. It includes details on how to access information, resources and tools to help care for seniors from CaLD background and promotes web resources available in multiple languages. Topics covered include: catering for CaLD seniors, communication cards and aged care signage, cross cultural communication, dementia awareness in CaLD communities, ethnic media (TV and radio), information in languages, incontinence care information in other languages, translated mental health information, translation and interpreting services (NT and national).
  • Charter of Aged Care Rights.

Key resources for CaLD seniors & carers

  • Signing a Contract with Service Providers for Home Care – PICAC NT has developed two checklists, one for service providers and one for clients. Both checklists are free to download. 
    • PICAC_ContractChecklist_Client_EN Before signing a contract for home care, you should be able to tick yes to 10 checklist items.
