What $19.1 billion federal spending on aged care reform looks like for the NT

COTA NT is part of the COTA federation in Australia, which has long been a very active participant calling for reform of the country’s aged care system. The Aged Care Royal Commission’s findings of March 2021 supported what COTA and other advocates had been saying for years; that the cause of widespread abuse and neglect across Australia’s aged care system was systemic. The aged care system was flawed in design, management and governance.
With the Federal Government committed to spending over $19.1 billion to reform the aged care system over the next five years, two aged care forums in the Northern Territory hosted by COTA NT address issues and questions about what aged care will look like for Territorians in the future.
How will government investment in home care, residential aged care services and sustainability, residential aged care quality, safety, workforce and governance affect us? To discuss national and Territory issues, and help answer questions are key speakers Janet Anderson, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner, Ian Yates AM Chief Executive Officer of COTA Australia and Chair, Council of Elders, the Hon Dr Kay Patterson AO, Age Discrimination Commissioner and Gill Yearsley, CEO of the NT’s Primary Health Network.
The public is invited to attend the forums being held in Darwin and Alice Springs. Bookings are essential.
