Waiting for review of scheme creates angst
24 Oct 2017
Seniors are still waiting with bated breath for the Gunner Government’s recommendations on the NT Pensioner and Carer Concession Scheme. We would recommend the NT Government release the ‘Have Your Say’ survey findings.
Senior Territorians are getting very restless and it is causing unnecessary angst for our elderly.
Working with the City of Darwin and Morning Teas
Many thanks to the City of Darwin, which has agreed to sponsor our scrumptious morning teas – the perfect opportunity for socialising and meeting with COTA staff/volunteers. These morning teas have been offered every month, but will be scheduled every quarter in 2018.
COTA NT continues to work closely with the City of Darwin on issues that impact seniors, and we are looking forward to working with the new Council.
AGM and COTA NT’s Board
As you all may be aware, COTA NT had their annual general meeting last week and we have some new faces on our board. Our board is a mixture of people who bring a broad set of knowledge, skills and experience in relation to seniors throughout the Territory to their service. More information about our new board can be found on our website.
Various reports are also available on our website, so you can read about how busy COTA has been and all the issues, topics, events and advocacy that we have organised, implemented and been involved with.
Events Calendar
With Christmas fast approaching, and all the celebrations and events that various seniors’ organisations will be organising coming up, please remember to list your event on the COTA Territory Seniors’ Calendar. This calendar is for Territory wide seniors’ events and is an informative and easy way of letting seniors know about your specific event.
COTA NT – This week, we have a session on cyclone preparation, with the emphasis on safety and first aid. Don’t forget to book in, the details are on our website.
