Territory Seniors Month calendar launched online for first time

16 May 2017

With the support of the Northern Territory government, COTA NT has developed and launched a new community event calendar for seniors on its website. This calendar has been specifically developed for SENIORS MONTH in August 2017, but can be used to inform seniors and stakeholders of events being held throughout the year in the Northern Territory.

The new calendar for Territory seniors is at www.cotant.org.au/territory-seniors-calendar.

Organisers of Seniors Month events and activities in August 2017 (and throughout the year) are invited to submit full details – including one picture – of their events.

The calendar includes separate regional calendars for seniors’ event and activities in Darwin, Palmerston, Darwin Rural (Batchelor, Litchfield, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, Berry Springs), Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Other Regions (Daly Waters, Jabiru, Nhulunbuy).  Each region is differentiated by colour. All submissions will be reviewed prior to publication by COTA NT staff and volunteers but the onus is on organisers to submit their details as perfectly as possible, including the tick box acknowledging funding assistance from Seniors Month grants. We have been advised that the outcomes of applications for Seniors Month grant funding are expected soon from the Office of Senior Territorians.

A printed Seniors Month calendar will also be produced for August’s activities. The deadline for inclusion in this calendar is close of business, Friday 9 June. Events must be submitted via the online calendar wherever possible. After this date, submissions can be made to the online calendar only.

Every effort has been made to keep the event submission as easy to follow as possible, although COTA NT will be offering Territory Seniors Calendar Workshops on 6 and 7 June (10.30am – 11.30am) at Spillett House (65 Smith Street, Darwin) to guide event organisers through the process – Bookings required 8941 1004.
