Seniors Month 2018 calendar is released
17 Jul 2018
The Seniors Month 2018 calendar is printed and is now available for pick up throughout the NT at numerous locations including libraries, electorate offices, community centres, shopping centres and aged care facilities.
If you need help in finding a pick-up point near you, please refer to the online Territory Seniors Calendar landing page where information is provided or call COTA NT on 8941 1004 for advice. Nearly 70 outlets across the Top End will have printed copies available. Copies are also available online to download and print, or you can view the online calendar by region, month and/or day view.
With almost 200 activities listed for August, Seniors Month is again a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and definitely the best time of year to try a new activity, be it dragon boat paddling, orienteering, square dancing or lawn bowls. There are lots of healthy, outdoor activities available, as well as movie mornings and evenings when it feels like time to escape the heat.
Most events are offered at no cost and we certainly advise booking early with event organisers to avoid disappointment. To whet your appetite for August, here is a rundown of some of the activities in store: group morning walks, aquafit, seated aerobics, squash and table tennis, lawn bowls, market tours, dance classes, mystery bus tours, woodworking, bus trips, powerlifting, golf, choir sessions; workshops and presentations on seniors’ issues, disability rights, pain management, author talks and crafting; a masked glamour ball, morning of entertainment at Darwin High School, harbour cruise, multicultural luncheon, morning teas, birthday parties, picnics, and even a Grab a Granny luncheon.
The winner of Keep Australia Beautiful’s gardening competition also gets announced in Seniors Month. And it’s not too late to enter your garden – judging continues until the end of July!
