Seniors Expo is back on for Darwin!
1 Sep 2021
COTA NT’s sixth and largest Seniors Expo for 2021 is back and appropriately celebrates resilience, strength and unity. Rescheduled from its original July date, Expo is being held on Saturday 4 September at the CDU Stadium, Sitzler Netball Centre, 235 Abala Rd, Marrara from 10am to 2pm. The event is free to enter and all are welcome.
“We are thankful that the program for the Expo on Saturday has largely remained the same as the original one planned and we certainly appreciate the support shown by COTA staff, volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors for the change of date,” said Sue Shearer, CEO of COTA NT. “It has taken a tremendous effort to put everything into place for this Expo again, and I hope that everyone comes along to enjoy the day.”
Expo aims to shine a big, beautiful, bright light on multicultural diversity and – in anticipation of the first NT Grandparents Day on 31 October – connection between generations. As a result, COTA NT is encouraging everyone who attends to dress or accessorise in their national dress and bring along their grandchildren, be they 3 or 43!
The expo also includes a free morning tea and community barbecue, live broadcast from Territory FM, a special community court featuring dance and music from Spain, Zimbabwe, Greece, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia and contemporary culture. There is opportunity for patrons to join-in and try seated aerobics, ballroom, line dancing and more! On the Kids of all Ages Court, big and little kids can get their faces painted with Fairy Jill, their photos taken in the Every Age Counts photo booth, join in with a mini ballroom dancing class, try walking soccer and netball, enjoy indoor golf and bowls, and play with some very big toys.
There will be stacks of information, giveaways and raffles from exhibitors including the latest on the Territory’s COVID-19 vaccination hubs from the Department of Health and everything you need to know about the NT’s Seniors Recognition and Concession Schemes. This is also the first opportunity to pick up a printed copy of the NT Seniors Card Discount Directory for 2021/2022!
It isn’t all about morning teas and dancing – it’s simply the best opportunity of the year for seniors to come and meet a wide range of exhibitors from government, industries and services including advocacy, aged care, health, finance, mobility, retirement care services and much more.
