Royal Commission into Aged Care – Transcript and witness statement from Ian Yates, CE of COTA Australia now available

WHAT: Chief Executive of COTA Australia, Ian Yates, appeared yesterday as one of the earliest witnesses on the first day of public hearings for the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality & Safety in Adelaide. The witness statement and transcript from his appearance are now available. 

WHO: Ian Yates, CE of COTA Australia, leads Australia’s leading advocacy peak body for older people, which is the largest and most active representative body of aged care service consumers. COTA has a long history of advocating for a more consumer-centric and consumer controlled aged care sector, and has lead the advocacy for many recent reforms.

Ian represents aged care consumers and families on a wide variety of federal government and aged care sector national bodies, including the Federal Government’s Aged Care Financing Authority; the Aged Care Sector Committee and Aged Care Quality Advisory Council; and is a leading member of the National Aged Care Alliance.
