New Term for COTA NT Board Members

Following the COTA NT AGM held at the beginning of October, a new term of office has begun for COTA NT’s board members. Chair Jan Jewell thanked board members for their hard work over the last two years, especially Joe De Luca who stepped down after years of service. She welcomed new member John Carriere, who joins Dr Vino Sathianathan (Vice Chair), Michael Walker (Treasurer), Ida Anderson (Berry Springs Representative), John Whyte (Public Officer), Dr Sadhana Mahajani and Christine Simpson.
“We hope that the next two years will be as productive and successful as the last two years under the guidance of CEO, Sue Shearer, “said Chair Jan Jewell adding, “We hope to see COTA NT reach even greater success in ensuring social justice and well-being for senior Territorians. The board intends to work with, and support, all staff and volunteers in continuing their work of advocacy and program delivery.”
During the last 12 months, COTA NT hosted over 300 events and activities throughout the Territory and engaged with nearly 7,000 seniors. These included: information workshops, forums, health and fitness activities, social outings and Seniors Expo 2019 (which was supported by nearly 2,000 Territory stakeholders). COTA NT also manages and delivers programs such as NT Seniors Card, Aged Care Navigators Trial, Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) and multicultural support programs. It undertakes grant-funded projects such as Seniors Month events, Harmony Day and outreach services. Its website receives over 25,000 visits and publishes a directory of information for seniors, plus a community events calendar.
