COTA NT extends its regular program for Seniors Month

18 Jul 2017

Traditionally August is a busy month for Senior Territorians with numerous outdoor and indoor festivals, events and activities being held in the wonderful Dry Season. The Northern Territory Government’s Seniors Month has offered many opportunities for seniors to try something new, meet new people and participate in activities with friends.

COTA has been delighted to extend its regular program of events and activities in support of recognition of this very special month. One of the highlights, thanks to our friends at BCC Cinemas, a morning tea and special review screening for seniors of Hampstead (Wednesday 16th of August, 11am Darwin City, Cinema 1).

Our favourite genres – romance and comedy over a cuppa and cake – and it’s all FREE!

Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson star in Hampstead, a London-set romantic comedy about an American widow who finds unexpected love with a man living in a ramshackle hut on Hampstead Heath when they take on the developers who want to destroy his home. Tickets are now available to pick up from COTA NT office.

Don’t miss our Stretch ‘n’ Flex 4 Week Course (starts on the 4th of August) led by instructor, with specific training within seniors fitness and health – designed to help seniors with their flexibility, balance and physical confidence and competency and African Drumming Workshop with Mbackeh Darboe (10th of August).

To finish our Seniors Month activities, we are holding a Multicultural Lunch for the senses (31 August). It’s also the last chance to purchase one of our raffle tickets to win 2 SilkAir flights, as we will be announcing the winner at 1.15pm at this event.

These are great opportunities to enjoy and celebrate life, friendship and well-being. Printed copies of the Seniors Month Calendar are now available from Spillett House (open 9am – 3pm exc public holidays) and at your local library and MLA offices across the NT.
