COTA NT advocating for and working towards an age-friendly, just, inclusive and equitable society for all Territorians over 50
The Home Maintenance Service, also known as our “Tradies Program” helps our older members in particular to engage qualified, safe, reliable and trustworthy tradespeople to undertake maintenance work on their premises.
The Tradies Program is managed by COTA NT staff with the assistance of volunteer Steve Thomas, a retired Mechanical Engineer and Business Manager and a team of suitably qualified volunteers. All are intent on maintaining excellent quality and service levels to ensure COTA NT members can be confident in sourcing home maintenance trades people through COTA NT.
The Home Maintenance Service / Tradies Program is designed to connect a COTA NT member and a local tradesperson, to ensure both parties get the job done at a fair price. It’s designed to provide members with peace of mind, improved safety and comfort in their homes and support. It’s also designed to help local trades and do what we can as an organisation to support local Territory economy and jobs.
The quick answer is jobs of all sizes, and with different degrees of urgency. The maintenance service has helped to prevent electrical shock, falls at home, home safety and also dealt with some of the little irks that too often, we just end up living with (read about some of the work completed in our case studies).
The Home Maintenance Service is designed to make available to COTA NT members, trades people from companies that are skilled in their professions, offer good old-fashioned customer service and true value for money. The businesses that we have selected are trustworthy companies, who are long-established local businesses with excellent reputations for honesty and reliability. And all of their employees have current police checks (see who our Home Maintenance Service Tradies are).
Firstly, we would like to acknowledge the support of COTA NT Volunteer Steve Thomas for creating this service for our members, the local Tradies who carry out works and the Australia Government Community Grants Hub: Volunteers Grants which enabled us to purchase tools and safety equipment.
It’s easy to become a member of COTA NT. You can join with an individual or joint membership. Find out more.
