Selfie with a Senior 2024 Winner
The winning entry of Selfie with a Senior 2024 was by Rachel Murphy who celebrated Lorraine North, a vibrant and valued part of the community.
Rachel describes Lorraine as a beautiful person always wearing a smile and happy to help anyone in need.
Lorraine volunteers a lot of her time with the Darwin Plastic Makers Space, that recycles plastic lids at the Greenhouse Cafe in the NT and dedicates hours to sort and clean the lids ready for recycling projects. Currently she is working on a chair made from over 5,000 plastic lids. Lorraine is also working closely with A Place for Plastic, sorting through the different types of plastic necessary to make 3D printing filament.
The Selfie with a Senior Award 2024 was sponsored by NT Seniors Card and COTA NT. See other Selfie with a Senior finalists.
Selfie with a Senior 2025 competition will reopen in 2025. COTA NT has expressed a sponsorship interest. Selfie with a Senior is part of the Portrait of a Senior Territorian Award program.
