Healthy Socialising brings Coomalie seniors together

26 Aug 2026

Grey Panthers were back in action in Coomalie this Seniors Month

Seniors in Coomalie turned up for the fun for Seniors Month with a day of Healthy Socialising on the 6 August.

COTA Coomalie welcomed 36 people including three from interstate, who were visiting local seniors.

Highlights include the Grey Panthers exercise regime and their dance display was much appreciated. The tai chi demonstration was very engaging and people gained a greater understanding of ‘mediation in motion’ from the presentation which gave more information about and reasons reasons for the exercises.

The Sudden Death Trivia Quiz left a winner after only eight questions, but everyone wanted to carry on with the rest of the questions, which we did and which was great fun.

A game of guessing birthday dates each month of the year (with a $10 prize each month) was greeted with laughter and also great fun.

The resort outdid themselves with the food and a number of takeaway containers made their way home for seniors’ teas.

Many thanks to Jan Jewell, the Chair of COTA Coomalie and her volunteers for organising the day (and for the report).

This event was supported by a Northern Territory Goverment Seniors Month Grant.
