The Territory Labor Opposition has released its first discussion paper, Reforming the Northern Territory Health System.
With the Territory health system under growing pressure from workforce shortages, ageing hospitals and clinics, increasing demand, long waits and the challenges of delivering services across a vast and dispersed population, this discussion paper looks beyond short-term fixes and asks what it will take to build a health system capable of meeting the Territory’s needs over the next 30 years.
The Opposition is seeking your views on issues including:
- The future of our hospitals, remote clinics and health infrastructure;
- Attracting, supporting and retaining health workers;
- Delivering more services closer to home; and
- Improving mental health, preventive and primary care services.
The people who use and work within our health system know where it is succeeding, where it is falling short and what needs to change.
Your experiences and ideas will help inform Territory Labor’s future health policies.
