Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) extended to 30 June 2029
24 Aug 2026
The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) grant funding will be extended for another 2 years to 30 June 2029 which means means older people will continue to access CHSP entry-level support to live independently and safely at home.
As the CHSP program needs improving to meet the demands of the ageing population, the Department of Health, Ageing and Disability will begin consultation this year on a long-term design for a block-funded, entry-level program that:
- is sustainable and better integrated with Support at Home
- ensures fair and equitable contributions to home care costs
- supports early intervention services to reduce system pressures.
More information about the consultation will available from the Department of Health, Ageing and Disability, but to participate in consultation and stay up to date, you can subscribe to their newsletters and mailing lists, comms.healthupdates.net.au/link/id/zzzz6362ab6557522561p/page.htm.
COTA Australia will be working with Government throughout the consultation to make sure the needs and experiences of older Australians are heard loud and clear.
