NT Seniors Voice for Katherine by COTA NT
Seniors Card program has been managed by COTA NT on behalf of the NT government since February 2018. Seniors Card is an Australia-wide initiative, supported by Government in each jurisdiction, to provide business discounts to seniors and recognises the valuable contribution that older people have made, and continue to make, for our community.
The NT Seniors Card is free for all Northern Territory permanent residents 60 years or older. The card has no expiry date, it is a lifetime card.
There are currently over 400 participating businesses offering discounts of around 10% to Territory seniors. NT Seniors Card holders are entitled to an annual discount of $55 on motor vehicle registration. New businesses are joining the program all the time so it is definitely worth asking a business if they offer a discount even if they don’t have a Seniors Card logo on the door, or before making a big purchase if the business offers Seniors Card discount.
Some of the businesses currently offering Seniors Card discounts in Katherine include: BP Mataranka Roadhouse, FE’S Fashion and Décor, Fletcher’s Plumbing & gas, Katherine Betta Home Living, Katherine Cinema 1, Katherine Country Club, Katherine Lock & Key, Katherine Mitre 10, Katherine Vet Care, Katherine Veterinary Clinic, McDonalds Katherine, NitNit Dreaming Two Gorge Tour, NT Rare Rocks, NT Technology, OPSM Katherine, Territory Pest Control, Whitehouse Furnishers and YMCA Katherine Recreation Centre.
If you currently shop at a business in Katherine that provides a discount but is not one of those mentioned, ask them to register in the Seniors Card Discount Directory on the website ntseniorscard.org.au/discounts-directory. This Directory is also published in print every year and should be available at the library and electoral offices.
Apply for a Seniors Card on the website, ntseniorscard.org.au if you haven’t already got one or contact the Seniors Card office on (free phone) 1800 441 489. The office is staffed Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm (except public holidays and Christmas close).
