The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award and exhibition recognises outstanding Territory artists and celebrates the significant achievements and contributions by senior Territorians to the NT community.

The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award originally commenced as a one off event to celebrate the International Year of the Older Person in 1999 with support from the Northern Territory Government and the Moran Arts Foundation who host the prestigious $150,000 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. The Award and exhibition has been held annually since 1999 and recognises outstanding achievement by Territory artists encouraging Territory wide interest and participation.

In 2018, the Award and exhibition celebrates 40 years of Self Government. The exhibition will be hosted in the Main Hall at Parliament House from 12-19 October 2018. The Award and exhibition will be opened on Friday 12 October 2018 along with the announcement of the prize winners, chosen by an esteemed panel of judges.
