Have your say on the new rights-based Aged Care Act and funding principles.

Help the Council on the Ageing (COTA) and the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) inform the Australian Government on two major reforms:

  • the new Aged Care Act and the rights and other foundation aspects it contains, and
  • funding principles for a sustainable aged care system.

If you would like to contribute your views in a safe and inclusive setting, please come along.

Morning session 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Proposed elements of the new Aged Care Act, including the Statement of Rights, duty of care, compensation pathways and supported decision-making. Please arrive at 8.30am to sign-in.


Afternoon session 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Key funding principles for an equitable aged care system, as identified by the recently-formed Aged Care Taskforce. Please arrive at 12.30pm for lunch and to sign-in.

Consultation forum information:

Who is it for?

  • older people, family members and carers
  • people of all ages interested in the future of aged care.

Format:

These one-day consultation forums will be made up of two individual sessions. You can attend a single session or both. A light lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided.

  • Morning session (9am–12.30pm): Proposed elements of the new Aged Care Act, including the Statement of Rights, duty of care, compensation pathways and supported decision-making. Please arrive at 8.30am to sign-in.
  • Lunch: served from 12:30pm-1:00pm
  • Afternoon session (1pm–4pm): Key funding principles for an equitable aged care system, as identified by the recently-formed Aged Care Taskforce. Please arrive at 12.30pm for lunch and to sign-in.
