The COTA Federation

COTA for Older AustraliansCouncil on the Ageing* Northern Territory is part of the wider COTA Federation: COTA Australia (the national body), COTA (ACT), COTA (NSW), COTA (NT), COTA (QLD), COTA (SA), COTA (TAS),COTA (VIC) and COTA (WA). Its network also includes COTA Holidays and COTA Insurance.

*Council on the Ageing was rebranded as COTA, simply an abbreviation of the organisation’s original name in 2009, as it was felt that the original name no longer accurately reflected that we work on behalf of people over 50. It has a strong and distinctive brand, recognised throughout Australia.

COTA Australia

COTA Australia works to:

  • Promote, improve and protect the circumstances and wellbeing of older people in Australia as citizens and consumers.
  • Be recognised by government, the general community and media as representing, advocating for and serving all older Australians.

COTA submissions

COTA Australia makes representation and submissions to Federal Government Ministers, Shadow Ministers and senior advisers on issues of relevance to older people.

The National Policy Office issues regular national newsletters which provide updates on national policy work. In addition Policy Alerts are issued when there are significant policy developments on which COTA wishes to comment. Click here to if you wish to receive newsletters and policy alerts
