COTA NT advocating for and working towards an age-friendly, just, inclusive and equitable society for all Territorians over 50
Volunteering SA&NT is a not for profit organisation and the peak body for volunteering, leading the sector in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Volunteering SA&NT connects people and organisations to create positive volunteering experiences and work with over 900,000 volunteers and 2,000 volunteer involving organisations.
For 36 years, they have worked with individuals, organisations, businesses and communities to lead, advance, grow, promote and celebrate volunteering.
In the Northern Territory, there are more than 70,000 volunteers, whose contribution is valued at around $3.3 billion annually. Volunteering SA&NT began working in the Northern Territory in 2007 and re-branded as Volunteering NT in December 2016.
Twice a year Volunteering SA&NT updates the volunteering dollar replacement hourly rate figure, which is currently $45.10 per hour. The basis of this calculation is taken from the biannual Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) average weekly earnings figures for Australia. This methodology follows Associate Professor, Dr Lisel O’Dwyer’s (previously Prof Duncan Ironmonger) approach to calculating a dollar value figure for volunteering, and is one of the calculations that forms the overall value of volunteering figure. The hourly rate will be updated again in late February 2021.
