Mental Health Association of Central Australia (MHACA)

The Mental Health Association of Central Australia (MHACA) is a leading Northern Territory community managed organisation offering psychosocial support services, housing and homelessness support, NDIS services, suicide prevention training and health promotion initiatives to enhance the wellbeing of people living in Central Australia.

Services include

  • Individual Support Services MHACA can provide one-on-one support to individuals to develop a recovery plan and to achieve goals through supported skills development as part of the Pathways to Recovery Program. Available to community members with and without a NDIS Plan.
  • Group Activities A range of therapeutic group activities are available which are focused on educational pursuits, personal development, living skills and include recreational outings. Available to community members with and without a NDIS Plan.
  • Tenancy Support Program The Tenancy Support Program develops a tailored plan to meet the specific needs of individuals and to help sustain their tenancies including through tenancy support, advocacy, case management, financial planning and referrals to other services.
  • NDIS Services MHACA is a specialist NDIS mental health provider with a focus on recovery and making positive changes to support your health and wellbeing. We can assist you to access the NDIS, help prepare for and manage your plan, and we provide a range of services to help support your goals.
  • Health Promotion MHACA’s Health Promotion Unit delivers community campaigns to increase protective factors and healthy behaviours that can help prevent the onset of mental illness and the incidence of suicide in our community.
  • Suicide Prevention Training MHACA delivers the Central Australia Suicide Prevention Training Program. The program delivers culturally appropriate training that develops awareness, knowledge and skills around strategies that reduce suicide and self-harming behaviour in the community. The training is delivered to government and non-government organisations, the general public and target communities and high-risk groups.


  • Drop-in Centre The Drop-in Centre at MHACA is a welcoming space with comfy lounges, internet access, laundry and bathroom facilities and provides opportunities to socialise with others. The Drop-in Centre is open Monday 8.30am – 1.30pm, Tuesday – Friday from 8.30am to 3.00pm.
