Spillett House is a hive of activity this August – with a wide range of events and activities on offer for seniors. We will have a new class of iPad savvy graduates by the end of the month, stronger and more flexible participants on the Stretch n Flex course, many newbies coming along to try  seated/chair aerobics and Pilates – we hope to see everyone coming back for these after Seniors Month finishes.

We have been supported in our work this month by a wonderful team of volunteers, who have not just helped put events and activities on, but who have patiently answered many queries on the phone and from visitors to Spillett House regarding Seniors Month calendars, events, bookings, NT Pensioners and Carers Concessions review and petition and much more. We would like to acknowledge their help and thank them for their tremendous support.

And we still have plenty of steam to take us through to the end of August. Our volunteers will be baking up scones once again for our fundraising morning tea on the 29 August. Even though scones are classic Aussie fare, our multicultural volunteers have effortlessly conquered them – light, fluffy, delicious – come and try these scones out! We will also have musical jam available with the Seniors Sunshine Band brightening the morning with happy music and smiles.

If scones aren’t a new enough experience for you, there is still time to book in and try Syrian cuisine at our luncheon on the 31 August. We’re taking to the great outdoors to enjoy food, music and dancing under the shade. We will also be announcing the winner of 2 SilkAir flights to Colombo at this lunch – will it be you taking the skies and leaving the build up behind?
